Next Step in the 90 Day Challenge

Here it is Thursday and day 11 of my challenge. I feel great. I look a my waistline and think "WOW, this is working" And the most important thing to remember about this is not feel hungry. I have done the Adkins Diet, and after about 5 or 6 days can't bear to think about food. Everything taste blah. Weight Watchers and counting points, NOPE. or eating from a box of meals, not me.
Last night we had some of my daughter's friends over. They love the local Pizza Shop. So we had a deep dish pizza, salad and some cheese bread. I had the salad and two pieces of pizza AND lost 1/2 pound yesterday. Yeah, 1/2 pound and ate Pizza. So i could lose 15 lbs a month and eat Pizza every day. What??? Sounds crazy, but it works....

This morning I added some plain Yogurt to my Banana Shake, my favorite, for some additional nutrients and protein. For lunch, I am having a Pineapple Upside Down shake. 6 Pineapple chunks, 2 scoops of the shake mix, 8 oz of the almond milk, a dash of cinnamon and 6 ice cubes. The flavors of this shake is ENDLESS, so you never get tired of them.... That's what makes this EASY....

Day 10 of the 90 Day Challenge

So today was a BIG day for me. I met it with anticipation. 10 days on my 90 day challenge. I have stuck to it and even went through Thanksgiving on it. Yes, I did eat the turkey and dressing, with mashed potatoes and gravy. I even had to have a piece of piece, well 2 pieces of pie.
This system has been a GOD send for me. I have tried the gym memberships, who has the time. Weight Watchers, counting and going to meeting. Nope.
I did this without any workout schedule or exercise routine. Monday I start one and I am going to push. When you see results, you will work at it
This works, that all I can say. AND it taste good. Yesterday I had a Chocolate/butter shake. Yeah it tasted like a Reese's.

My next plateau is the 15 lb mark. I am thinking that next week might be the week to hit that.

Shake of the Day

Wow, Today I started my day with a Banana Shake. This is fast becoming a favorite of mine. One whole banana, 2 scoops of "The Mix" and 1 cup of Almond milk. Blend with 4-6 ice cubes and you have a shake that will fill you up and make you slim.

Yesterday's shake was an Apple Pie shake.
1/2 apple peeled, 1/2 granola bar,  2 scoops of "The Mix", 1 cup almond milk and 4-6 ice cubes. Again, it tastes just like a piece of Apple Pie. How can you go wrong with that?

12 days into my challenge, I have lost 9 pounds, all with drinking shakes that taste like that.
AND in that 12 day period,we had a Thanksgiving holiday. Yes I ate turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, rolls and even 2 pieces of pie. I could not pass up the pie.
EASY, EASY,
If I can do this, You can too.

Get a start on your New Year Resolution, NOW!!!!!

Foods to Avoid on Your 90-Day Challenge

In addition to your Vi-Shakes, Nutra-Cookies and energy drinks, it is important to watch what you are eating while on your 90-Day Challenge. The shakes can replace two meals a day and the Nutra-Cookies will help fuel your body and quell your hunger, but from time to time you may find you’re still hungry between meals.  Everyone knows that having a hamburger or pizza is going to negatively affect their weight loss goals, but what about foods that fall in the gray area? Snacking from time to time may be something you really enjoy, so if you’re going to do it, you might as well be smart about it! Here is a list of four seemingly ‘harmless’ and ‘healthy’ foods that you should strive to avoid while on your Challenge.
Low-Fat Ice Cream
Foods To Avoid on Your 90-day ChallengeEveryone loves ice cream right!?  And low-fat sounds so great doesn’t it?Unfortunately, it sounds a lot better than it actually is for you. For example, Häagen-Dazs Low-Fat Vanilla Frozen Yogurt has 21 grams of sugar in a half-cup serving (nearly double the amount in real ice cream). That half-cup serving alone will take up almost your entire recommended daily sugar intake! There are obviously other types of low-fat ice cream out there, but to be safe I recommend trying to stay away from low-fat ice cream in general.
Greek Yogurt (Certain Kinds)
Greek yogurt can be a bit of a double-edged sword depending on what type you get. There is no denying that Greek yogurt is a great source of protein (about 15 grams) and calcium (25% of your daily value in 1 cup), however some types may be packing on too many calories. For example, Fage Total Plain Classic Greek Yogurt has 23 grams of fat and about 300 calories in a single cup. If you’re a big fan of Greek yogurt I would recommend steering clear of the whole milk kind and instead enjoy the 2% fat version which only has 150 calories in a single cup. Another option would be Fage Total 0% Plain Greek Yogurt which is still a great source of protein (20 grams) yet has no fat and only 120 calories.
White Rice
White rice is considered to be a high glycemic carbohydrate which is quickly broken down into glucose.  The problem with high glycemic carbs is that they actually stimulate your appetite which in turn makes you more hungry. Thankfully there is an easy alternative to white rice: brown rice. Brown rice is a low glycemic carb that won’t stimulate your appetite.
Cream of Wheat
Similar to white rice, cream of wheat is a high glycemic carb which enters and leaves the stomach without giving you the satisfaction of feeling full. Other than being a high glycemic carb, there really aren’t any major downsides to cream of wheat; however there are a number of alternatives that you should look into instead. A few examples are oats, oatmeal or even oat brand. Remember- stay away from high glycemic carbs!
It is important to remember that many of the ‘low-fat’ and ‘low-carb’ foods out there often compensate for the lack of fat or carbs with too much of something else. No matter what type of diet or Challenge you’re on, never forget that moderation will be one of the main pillars of your success. If I listed one of your favorite snacks, there’s no need to panic! Just try to find a healthier alternative or minimize your consumption of that item.

Day One - The Dawn of a New Day!

I have a simple story: just turned 54 years old. Not in bad shape, but a little overweight. Very athletic in my youth, but a sports injury and a couch were my enemy.
I blew out the knee, the first time, at 24 playing very competitive softball, world tournament type of competitive.
Take the Challenge
After 5 operations on my knee, and finally a knee replacement last year, at age 52, I told myself that I needed to lose some weight.
I looked around at Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystems, but nothing really hit me as the right program.
Until now; It’s called Visalus, yeah the name is kind of weird, but the results are not. AND the best thing is, I can make money losing weight.
You can drive a BMW, invite friends and lose weight together. It’s simple and easy.
